She is a staunch defender of human rights, a doctor by profession, who began her crusade during the dictatorship defending the rights of the regime’s victims. Already in democracy, she has been part of relevant memory initiatives, leading the Villa Grimaldi Peace Park Corporation and currently presiding over the Colonia Dignidad Association for Memory and Human Rights. She has focused her engagement in other areas of human rights, such as women’s rights.
Margarita Romero is a Councilor of the Institute from July 4, 2016 to July 4, 2022, elected by the civil society organizations that are part of the INDH registry.
