Sergio Micco Aguayo

Sergio Micco - Director INDH

Lawyer from the University of Concepción. With a Masters in Political Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Chile. Today he works as an academic at the Institute of Public Affairs and the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile. Previously he was a professor at Stanford University, headquarters for Latin America, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, at the University of Talca, and at the Alberto Hurtado University. He was president of the Federation of Students of the University of Concepción between 1985 and 1986. He was also a member of the Assembly of Civility (1986).

He is currently a member of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Episcopal Conference of Chile. He has made multiple publications on the Chilean bankruptcy and re-democratization. He is a member of the Council of the National Human Rights Institute elected by the deans of the Faculties of Law of the universities of the Council of Rectors and of the autonomous universities from 2014 to 2019, being elected for a new period between July 2, 2019 and July 2, 2025.

He was elected Director of the Institute, by the majority of the Council members, on July 29, 2019, for three years.
